CONGRATULATIONS TO THE GRADUATING CLASSES OF 2010!

Matanzas Honors 2010 Academic Acheivements

 

Please join us in congratulating the following MHS teams for their outstanding academic achievements this past spring.

 

·         Matanzas Girls Tennis team finished the year with the 4th highest GPA (3.580) out of 123 class 2-A schools in the state.

·         Matanzas Girls Softball team finished the year with the 11th highest GPA (3.192) out of 111 class 4-A schools in the state. 

·         Matanzas Girls Lacrosse team finished the year with the 14th highest GPA (3.038) out of 62 schools in the state.

·         Matanzas Boys Baseball team finished the year with the 15th highest GPA (3.044) out of 113 class 4-A schools in the state.  

·         Matanzas Girls track & Field team finished the year with the 15th highest GPA (3.145) out of 140 class 2-A schools in the state.

FPC Celebrates 2010 Successes!

 

As Scholars and as Humanitarians FPC students stand out and stand proud! Below is a list of just some of the accomplishments from 2010: 

·         177 students took exams in our two most advanced programs. Students took a total of 357 College Board Advanced Placement exams, and 488 International Baccalaureate multiple set exams, plus other required assessments for these two programs.

·         4 seniors received the Medallion of Excellence Award, 19 seniors made the 1300 club, and 2 are National Merit Semi-finalists. Flagler Co. School Board’s Crystal of Excellence was awarded to 7 outstanding FPC seniors.

·         FPC has a Questbridge Scholar for the 2nd year in a row, and we also have a Bill Gates Scholarship winner.

·         40 seniors received Senior Class awards

·         180 students wore the silver & gold honor cords at graduation, 31 of them also wore the blue and gold tassels representing membership in the National Honor Society.

·         14 seniors received cords for at least 2 years of Mu Alpha Theta participation.

·         4 seniors graduated with their AA degrees from Daytona State College.

·         FPC celebrated the first graduate from the Linear Park Environmental Learn & Serve Program.

·         Many of our seniors earned scholarships this year from both local and governmental organizations totaling nearly 1/ 2 a million dollars.

·         Many more earned college scholarships from both in state and out of state universities.

·         15 Air Force JR. ROTC seniors graduate this year, and one of them is receiving a full Air Force Junior ROTC Scholarship.

·         The seniors in chorus received perfect superior ratings for all four years, and 2 of them were placed in the Allstate Honor Choir, and several received superior Solo ratings at the state level.

·         The seniors in band have also received superior ratings for 4 years from the Florida Band Association, & 2 seniors from band and chorus were accepted by audition to FSU & UCF in music composition and music therapy programs.

·         19 Seniors created the FPC yearbook this year and 3 seniors successfully published 4 PawPrints newspapers this year.

·         25 Student Government Seniors earned their 4th consecutive Gold Medal in the States Medallion Council Competition.

·         11 dancers performed at the First Florida All State dance assessment, and earned an Excellent rating and 5 Superiors; 3 of the dancers were inducted into the National Honor Society for Dance Arts.

·         In the past 4 years our 27 senior members of Future Problem Solvers have earned 22 District Titles, 75 State Titles, and 32 International Titles, ranging from writing on global issues, scenario writing, individual and team community problem solving. FPC sent three teams to the International Competition at the University of Wisconsin this summer, the most of any school in the 36-year history of the competition. In the end, the FPC teams and one student had collected more awards, including three top awards, than any school (or state) had managed in the history of the competition. FPC came home with the competition’s highest honor, the E. Paul Torrance Beyonder Award, which is not necessarily awarded every year.

·         Our Key Club worked to raise money for Leukemia and Lymphoma as well as supporting other worthwhile causes.

·         Roots and Shoots seniors have worked tireless this year to continue their successful recycling project in the school as well as throughout the county.

·         Habitat for Humanity’s members worked on 5 houses this year in order to provide those in need of safe, affordable housing with a place of their own. The groups educational activities, which allowed young children the chance to learn about and serve the Habitat program, along with a car wash , a spaghetti dinner to help feed Flagler County’s homeless individuals and a Spooky Halloween experience at the Florida Agricultural Museum, raised over $4,000, provided over 800 community service hours to benefit many of our neighbors.

On the Athletic fields, tracks and courts, our students also received the following accolades in 2010:

 

·         Girls’ soccer had a 2 time Player of the year and the team advanced to the Elite 8 in the state playoffs.

·         Boys’ Lacrosse had five first team all district players this season.

·         11 seniors signed scholarships to play at the next level.

·         Girls’ Flag Football advanced to the region finals.

·         Cross Country and Track won district titles.

·         Boys Weight Lifting crowned a state champion two years in a row.

·         Girls’ and Boy’s lacrosse advanced to the state play offs.

·         Girls’ Basketball advanced to the state playoff series.

·         Girls’ Cross Country won a five star championship

·         Tennis had two players advance to the state tourney.

·         Competitive Cheer advance to the state finals for the 2nd consecutive year.

·         Student trainers have logged over 1000 hours in their four years.

·         FHSAA gave FPC the exemplary Sportsmanship Nomination for the 2nd consecutive year.
